While the split over time between GSM, WCDMA/HSPA and LTE in different markets or geographical areas is harder to predict, it is clear is that they will continue to coexist at least until 2020, and most likely for some time beyond that. In other words, the three generations of 3GPP standards will have to be managed in parallel for the foreseeable future.
