Ericsson executive wins innovation award

Top Ericsson executive is one of the recipients of this year’s TechAmerica Innovator Awards for his contribution in the fields of 2G and 3G (HSPA) technologies.

Jan Uddenfeldt, senior technology advisor to the CEO, won in the Telecom Equipment category of the awards given out by TechAmerica, the US technology industry’s largest advocacy organization.

The 50th annual TechAmerica Innovator Awards and Benefit event celebrates innovators in technology for their contributions to the telecom industry and society. These awards focus on the person rather than the product or company, and are chosen from seven industry segments: Computer and Equipment, Telecom Equipment, Consumer Electronics, Electronic Components, Software, CleanTech and Internet.

“I am very pleased that our R&D efforts in GSM and 3G mobile systems are being acknowledged,” Uddenfeldt says. “This award also serves as proof of our growing visibility in Silicon Valley. Our presence in San Jose is beginning to raise awareness of Ericsson in the US.”

As well as the innovator awards, TechAmerica selects a recipient of the David Packard Medal of Achievement, its highest award given annually since 1959 for significant contributions to the high-tech industry and for distinguished service to the industry and society. This year's recipient is John W. Thompson, chairman of the board, Symantec Corporation.
